Partnership is Central

Central Station is 100% Canadian owned and operated by five partners, with different and complementary skill sets.

They came together with a shared belief that how and why people were gravitating to brands had changed. Their collective experiences, in branding, strategic planning, creative campaign development, design, technology, the creation of retail experiences, operations and finance provided the perfect mix of capabilities to help clients create irresistible brands.

Between them, John, Brad, Paul, David and Joe have worked both client and agency side, they’ve worked for multi-nationals, they’ve owned and operated successful Canadian companies, they’ve worked on some of the country’s biggest and most respected brands and have individually (and collectively) won their share of creative and business awards.

While their individual experiences and core areas of expertise are different (and their personalities even more so), they are one, when it comes to building and operating an agency that arrives together. They do this in collaboration with their clients to create innovative and cost-effective initiatives that create brand affinity while driving business results.

John is an experienced, passionate and decisive leader, known for delivering measurable business results. He’s worked both client and agency side and is as comfortable working in the public sector as he is in the private sector.

He’s helped build and manage a host of big brands including TD, Nike, Coors Light, Ontario Tourism and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. John’s commitment to the marketing communications industry led him to take on the role of Board Chair of NABS (National Advertising Benevolent Society); a volunteer position he held for three years, ending in June, 2016.

John has enjoyed seeing Central Station almost double in size while maintaining the personality and agility of a smaller, privately owned Canadian agency.

Goal: Never be bored.

Brad’s advertising career actually began in an advertising agency mailroom where it didn’t take long for him to realize that his dream job was in the illusive Creative Department. Throughout his career, Brad has contributed to countless award winning campaigns that have been showcased internationally for both effectiveness and creativity. He won his first Gold Marketing award by the time he was 21 and was also the first ever winner of the Cannes Young Lion award. His leadership style involves challenging routine and keeping your eye on the impossible. His work has contributed to the success of many brands and businesses including Coors Light, Nike, Weetabix, Kraft and Pepsi.

Goal: To see, touch and taste every continent.

As David grew up in UK advertising, the part he liked most was strategy: Why are we doing that? What are we asking this spend to achieve? What’s the real challenge here?

He’s worked on new brands, re-brands, data analytic pipelines, international alignment, internal branding, charities... he likes variety. With many years of big agency experience on businesses such as Coors Light, Doritos and OLG, David has helped many clients find new ways to solve old problems. At Central Station, he works with clients to discover the right path to success – wherever it takes us. One of his favourite things about strategy is that it’s a team sport when you’re doing it right.

At Central Station, Dave is responsible for overseeing and elevating our agency’s design output. Not only does he look after the quality, consistency of the work, he has a keen sense for combining client needs and creating unique designs himself.

Dave is a seasoned creative who has over a decade of experience managing small and large creative teams. He has been the lead creative for some very well-known brands and has been responsible for the creative direction of award winning marketing campaigns. He’s worked with/for many internationally known clients such as: Bacardi, Campari, Nike, Hudson’s Bay Company, Maple Leafs Sports + Entertainment and the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club.

Manny started out as a graphic designer but leveraged his technical ability to work first in web development and then in different forms of large format printing. This expertise in both production and design give him a unique eye to solving problems and getting things done. He is equally comfortable talking about the curve, texture and feel of a tap handle as he is the creative idea that it revolves around.

Goal: Accuracy, Efficiency, Transparency!

Gloria started out with the dream of becoming a pharmacist. A suggestion from her accountant sister to “try doing a few Accounting courses” changed the path of her career. With a Professional Accounting designation and a degree in Psychology, Gloria (or Glow as she is more affectionately known around the office) has held several increasingly responsible accounting positions over the years and now keeps Accounting and Human Resources at Central Station operating smoothly.

Glow’s goal to change the world by transforming lives within her sphere has led her to active participation in two global NGOs: Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization with a mission to empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders and Global Leadership Interlink (GLI), a global network of professionals and university students committed to transformation in society through the development of values-based leaders.

Matt maintains that this thing called work can actually be enjoyable. He prides himself on ensuring that the agency is delivering superior work and having a good time while doing it. With 10+ years in “ad life” Matt has a solid depth of strategic and executional experience to make a real difference on his client’s business. He loves the challenge of poking holes in things to ensure they still float, loves being curious and is ultra competitive. One of his specialties is not just working with clients, but working with broader teams of partner agencies (production companies, media agencies, event companies, social networks etc.) to keep momentum up and direction clear. Matt has done this for brands including Molson Coors, Lindt, Weetabix North America, Axe Body Spray and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. (Also, Go Leafs Go).
