The CS Holiday Throwdown

If there’s one thing everyone needs during the stressful holiday period, it’s an excuse to throw things. This year, we here at Central were more than happy to provide. ‘Tis the season of giving, after all!

The CS Holiday Throwdown turned our annual holiday gift into a snowball slinging spectacular …that gave back. The mobile game itself was beautiful both in simplicity and silliness: sign up, hurl as many snowballs as you can at moving targets, claw your way up the leaderboard, then spend your entire holidays bragging to friends and family.

But it wasn’t just smugness we were raising. For every game played, we donated $1 to NABS Canada, a not-for-profit that helps people in advertising and media through wellness support, financial aid, workshops and more. It’s really a safe haven for people in our industry, and one we are thrilled to support.

We asked you to throw snow to raise dough. And boy, did you ever. We’re not talking casual tossers here. We saw some scarily intense battles. Some mind-blowing high scores. And a lot of people who clearly needed an excuse to ignore their families at holiday events. Our game developer informed us that 500 games played is the usual baseline for this game. But thanks to your unhinged dedication to snowballs, we threw (pun very much intended) the metrics way off with 2,966 total games played. Do they give the Cy Young Award for snowballs? They should. And you’d definitely win, NovaMuffin003.

High scores are great. Glory is eternal. But doing good is the real gift. With every one of those multiple thousands of games raising money for NABS Canada, our Holiday Throwdown proved that fun and generosity are the perfect holiday pairing (take a seat, milk and cookies). So, to everyone who played, shared, hurled, launched, and flung, thank you. You turned a fun game into real impact, and that’s some true holiday magic.

The final stats, in all their glory:
